On this tour you will be based at two locations and offers an opportunity to cycle Hokkaido’s most beautiful areas. In Niseko, you will see young mountains that have sprung up in the last fifty years and hot volcanic bubbling ponds. You will cycle around caldera lakes formed thousands of years ago by huge volcanic eruptions. In Furano you cycle through lavender and quilted flower fields and vineyards. Combined with nights staying at two exceptional hot spring hotels, exquisite Japanese food, this journey is sure to delight.

We transfer you to Niseko. On arrival set up the bikes and relax in the hotel hot springs.
Day 2 Fuji of the North Volcano Loop (73 km or 96 km)
Ride a loop of the iconic Mt Yotei. The route will take us under Mt Annupuri before descending in to the valley and then making our way around the giant volcano. If we are back early enough, we will refuel at a soba restaurant where you will watch the master make the noodles right before you.
Day 3 Lake Toya Caldera (63 km or 127 km)
Ride out to the caldera lake of Lake Toya. Legend has it that sumo tournaments were held on the island in the middle of the lake. See the smoking Showa Shinzan which is a volcano that has grown to 400 meters from a farmers field in the space of 60 years.
Day 4 Nikka Whiskey (68 km)
Ride out to Yoichi, a fishing town on the west coast of Hokkaido famous for apple and cherry orchards and Nikka Whiskey. Enjoy a post ride whiskey. We then transfer to Furano.
Day 5 Asahidake Volcano (80 km or 160 km)
Ride to the live volcano of Mt Asahi. The hill climb averages 5% grade for 12 km, winding its way to 1,100 meters on the mountain. A tram will take you to the caldera of the volcano where you will see multiple smoking fumaroles. The return ride descends for most of the way back to Furano.
Day 6 Tokachidake Volcano Climb (53 km or 102 km)
Ascend the southern end of the national park to the highest road point of Hokkaido. The hill climb averages 8% for 10 kilometres. We then make the winding descent to a dairy farm that gives majestic views of the mountains. We make a stop at the local vineyard on the return. Check out the ride here
Day 7 Biei Rolling Hills Route (50km or 120km)
You will ride the back roads of the valley through the rolling hills of Biei. We will celebrate our last night at a local Japanese restaurant.
Day 8 Sayonara
Transfer to Chitose Airport.
